History of Pinewood Gymnastics Club in Wokingham

Pinewood Gymnastics Club moved to its first full time, purpose built facility on the site of Pinewood Leisure Complex in 1986. The immediate effect was an increased membership and level of participation which established the club firmly on the gymnastics map.

As Pinewood grew from strength to strength that facility became too small to satisfy the needs of the club. In 1994 a second and even larger gymnasium was built alongside the existing one. During this period of time the Club received grant aid from the Sports Council and the Foundation for Sport and the Arts.

Pinewood has over 1300 members and employs six full time coaches and over fifty part time coaches

Initially Pinewood was solely involved in recreation and Women’s Artistic gymnastics. Today, with a membership in excess of 1300 and employing six full time coaches and over fifty part time coaches the Club can boast a large Kindergym and Club Class Programme. The range of disciplines includes Team Gym, Tumbling and Women’s Artistic.

Pinewood gymnasts have achieved many successes at county, regional, national and international levels. The Club has gained the British Gymnastics Gym Mark accreditation for providing a safe, effective and child friendly club. The facility, equipment and coaching structure of the Club has now put Pinewood at the forefront of British Gymnastics.
